HubSpot's Fall '26 update vs. Salesforce: what small businesses should compare

HubSpot just shipped what one trade outlet called one of its most significant CRM updates in years. If you are choosing between HubSpot and Salesforce for a team of 10 to 100 people, the announcement is worth reading closely, because the headline features are easier to compare than the pricing.

What HubSpot announced

According to Small Business Trends' coverage of HubSpot's Fall '26 Spotlight, published September 16, 2026, the update centers on AI agents and records that update themselves. The main pieces are:

  • Breeze Assistant: you describe a goal, and it assigns specialized AI agents to tasks such as campaign planning, reports, prospecting and sales outreach.
  • Smart CRM: captures information from calls, emails and meetings and syncs it to records automatically.
  • Context Home: scores how complete your business data is and flags the gaps.
  • Deal Progression: updates deal records and drafts follow-ups, with user approval.
  • Revenue Hub: prepares quotes automatically from deal information.

HubSpot also cites results such as customers using its AI sales tools cutting time to close by nearly half. Those are company-reported figures. The article does not give pricing or a rollout date for the new features, so you cannot yet cost them out.

Where Salesforce stands for small teams

On the Salesforce side, Tech.co reported in March that Agentforce for Small Business features were coming to the Starter, Pro and Free Suite plans at no additional cost. They include pre-meeting deal summaries, drafted follow-up emails and an employee assistant that logs activities. The same article notes the full Agentforce 1 Sales plan costs $550 per user per month.

At Dreamforce, Salesforce said Agentforce Coworker, an AI assistant inside Salesforce, is available to customers now and can be turned on without migration. As with HubSpot's update, Salesforce's announcement did not publish pricing for its newest components.

A fair side-by-side

Both vendors are converging on the same idea: AI that drafts follow-ups, summarizes deals and keeps records current. The differences that matter to a small business are practical.

  • Data hygiene is the shared prerequisite. HubSpot's Context Home exists because AI is only as useful as the data behind it. The same is true in Salesforce, whichever tool you pick.
  • Entry-level access differs by plan. Salesforce's small business AI features are tied to its Suite plans. HubSpot has not published how its new features are packaged.
  • Customization has a cost on both sides. The more your process differs from the default, the more setup and admin time you should budget for.

How to decide

Skip the feature checklist and run a short pilot. Pick one workflow, such as follow-up after a sales call, and test it in each tool with your real data. Measure time saved and error rate for 30 days. Ask each vendor for written pricing for the exact features you plan to use, since neither announcement provides it.

If your team already lives in Salesforce, the lower-risk move is usually to turn on what your plan includes before switching platforms. If you are starting fresh, weigh admin capacity as heavily as features. A tool nobody maintains will not stay accurate for long.
