Agentforce Help Agent is here — and you only pay when it actually works

Most AI tools ask you to pay upfront and hope for the best. Salesforce just flipped that model.

On June 25, Salesforce launched Agentforce Help Agent — an autonomous customer service agent that deploys in minutes and comes with a pricing structure unlike anything else in the market: you only pay when it actually resolves your customer's issue.

If the customer asks for a human, or walks away unsatisfied, the conversation doesn't cost you a thing.

For small businesses that have been skeptical of AI customer service tools — either because of setup complexity, unpredictable costs, or fear of a bad customer experience — this is worth paying attention to.

What is Agentforce Help Agent?

Help Agent is Salesforce's new autonomous service agent built to handle customer support from start to finish, without a human in the loop. It works across the channels your customers already use: web chat, voice, email, portal, and messaging apps.

Unlike AI chatbots that handle simple FAQs and hand off everything else, Help Agent is designed to complete support tasks — not just answer questions. Out of the box it can manage cases, schedule appointments, update orders, and run workflow actions tied to your Salesforce data.

Setup is designed to be fast. Salesforce says the agent can be live in six clicks or fewer.

The pricing model that changes everything

Here's the part that matters most for small business owners watching their budget: pay-per-resolution pricing.

With this model, you're only billed when Help Agent fully resolves an issue autonomously — from the customer's first message to a successful close, without escalating to a human. If the customer asks for a human agent or leaves unhappy, there's no charge.

This is a meaningful shift. Traditional customer service software charges you per seat, per user, or per conversation regardless of outcome. With pay-per-resolution, you're essentially paying for results — not for the tool sitting there. The model is scheduled to reach general availability in July 2026.

Why this matters for small businesses specifically

Small businesses face a specific challenge with customer service: you need to be responsive, but you can't afford a full support team. The typical workaround is to handle it yourself or have whoever is available jump in — which is inconsistent and doesn't scale.

AI-powered customer service has been a theoretical solution for years, but the economics rarely made sense at the SMB level. Enterprise tools were priced for enterprises. Generic chatbots frustrated customers more than they helped.

Agentforce Help Agent addresses both problems:

  • Low setup barrier. A guided, six-click deployment means you don't need a developer or a Salesforce consultant just to get it running.
  • Risk-aligned pricing. Because you only pay for resolutions, there's no sunk cost if the agent underperforms. You pay for what it actually does.
  • Multi-channel coverage. Customers get consistent, 24/7 service whether they reach out via your website, a messaging app, or phone — without you staffing those channels around the clock.

What you need to have in place first

Help Agent runs on top of your existing Salesforce data. That means the quality of what the agent can do depends on the quality of your Salesforce setup. If your product catalog, case data, and customer records are clean and up to date, the agent can do a lot. If your CRM is a mess, the agent will reflect that.

Before rolling this out, it's worth doing a quick audit of your Salesforce data hygiene — especially your case history, contact records, and any product or order data you want the agent to reference.

This is also a good time to map out which support scenarios you want the agent to handle. Start narrow: pick two or three high-volume, low-complexity request types and let the agent handle those first. Measure resolution rates. Expand from there.

The bigger picture

This launch is part of a broader shift at Salesforce. The company has been moving aggressively to make Agentforce accessible to smaller businesses — embedding AI features directly into its Free, Starter, and Pro SMB plans, eliminating separate SKUs, and now pricing support AI on outcomes rather than usage.

The message is clear: AI-powered customer service is no longer just for companies with six-figure software budgets. If you're running Salesforce and fielding customer support requests, this is worth exploring before your competitors do.

Help Agent is available now, with pay-per-resolution pricing rolling out in July 2026.
