Agentforce Help Agent: Salesforce's new AI service agent deploys in minutes—and you only pay when it works

If you've been watching the AI agent space but haven't pulled the trigger—partly because setup sounds complicated and partly because you're not sure it will actually work—Salesforce just addressed both problems at once.

On June 25, 2026, Salesforce announced Agentforce Help Agent: a prepackaged AI customer service agent that guides you through setup in minutes and only charges you when it resolves a customer issue from start to finish. No resolution, no charge.

Here's what that actually means for your business.

What is Agentforce Help Agent?

Agentforce Help Agent is a ready-to-deploy AI service agent built on Salesforce's Agentforce platform. Unlike building an AI agent from scratch—where you'd need to connect knowledge bases, define what actions the agent can take, and wire up every communication channel separately—Help Agent comes pre-configured to handle all of that.

Out of the box, it:

  • Answers customer questions by pulling from your existing Salesforce Knowledge base
  • Manages cases, schedules appointments, handles order updates, and manages accounts
  • Works across voice, web chat, customer portal, and messaging—all turned on from a single screen
  • Can be set up in 6 clicks or less

If the customer isn't satisfied or asks to speak with a human, the agent hands off the full conversation context to your team—and you don't pay for that interaction.

The pricing model is the real news

AI tools typically charge by usage: API calls, tokens consumed, seats licensed. You pay whether the tool works or not.

Agentforce Help Agent flips that. With pay-per-resolution pricing, you're only charged when the agent autonomously resolves a customer issue, start to finish. No resolution? No charge. Both the underlying data access (Data 360) and the Agentforce platform itself are unmetered during the interaction—so you don't have to worry about overage surprises mid-conversation.

For a small business with lean margins and unpredictable support volume, this is a meaningful shift. Your AI cost scales directly with your AI results.

Why this matters for small businesses specifically

Salesforce built Help Agent with speed-to-value in mind, and small businesses are explicitly in the target. When Salesforce announced its $3.6 billion acquisition of Fin (the AI customer service platform formerly known as Intercom), they specifically cited the need for "fast time-to-value options especially well-suited for SMBs that need to launch quickly, integrate with existing systems, and deliver measurable outcomes."

Help Agent is that option—available now, before the Fin acquisition even closes.

The resolution rate data backs it up. Salesforce has been running Agentforce on its own support site, handling 4.3 million customer inquiries and resolving 70% of them autonomously. The Help Agent was built using everything they learned from that real-world deployment.

What you need to have in place

Help Agent is built to reduce setup friction, but you still need a few things in order for it to work well:

  • Salesforce Knowledge: The agent grounds itself on your existing knowledge articles. If your Knowledge base is sparse or outdated, the agent will underperform. Cleaning up your Knowledge content before deploying is the single biggest lever for resolution rate.
  • Connected channels: The single-screen channel activation is genuinely simple—but you'll want to confirm your web, portal, and messaging channels are set up correctly in Salesforce beforehand.
  • Case and order data: For actions like case management and order updates to work, that data needs to be living in Salesforce. If it's in a separate system, you'll need an integration in place first.

The good news: if you've already done the foundational Salesforce work, deploying Help Agent is mostly configuration, not custom development.

When is it available?

Agentforce Help Agent and the redesigned Agentforce Customer Service Portal are generally available in July 2026. Pay-per-resolution pricing launches at the same time.

If you're already on Salesforce and thinking about adding AI-assisted support, now is a good time to start assessing your Knowledge base and channel setup so you're ready to move quickly when it drops.

The bottom line

Agentforce Help Agent won't replace your support team—it's designed to handle the routine questions that consume hours your team could spend on more complex work. And with a pricing model tied directly to outcomes, the risk of trying it is lower than almost any other AI tool you could deploy.

If you're a Salesforce customer and customer service is a bottleneck, this is worth a close look before July.
